Helpful answers for pet parents

A calmer grooming day starts here.

Helpful information about appointments, pricing, coat care, and what your pup can expect from mobile grooming.

01 · Getting ready

Planning your visit

A few simple details help everything feel easy from the moment the van arrives.

How do I request an appointment?

Submit an appointment request online, or call or text us at 502-236-2887. Online requests require a valid card on file, but it will not be charged unless you choose to use it for payment or a fee applies under the service agreement.

What should I do before the van arrives?

A quick potty break and safe access to your pup are the biggest helps. Please have current rabies documentation available and share any health conditions, allergies, sensitivities, medications, anxieties, or bite history ahead of time. The more we know, the better we can tailor the visit.

Do you need access to my water or electricity?

No. The van is fully self-contained with fresh water, power, climate control, and professional grooming equipment.

Do I need to stay home during the appointment?

Not necessarily. We enjoy meeting you at the first visit, but regular clients can arrange safe access for their pup and are welcome to enjoy the convenience of mobile grooming while we work.

Where should the van park?

A safe, reasonably level driveway, curbside space, or parking-lot spot works best. Clear access helps us set up safely and keeps the van comfortable throughout your pup’s appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans change. Please give us at least 24 hours of notice whenever possible so we have a chance to offer the reserved time to another family. Late cancellations may be charged up to the appointment fee, as outlined in the service agreement.

What happens during severe weather?

Safety comes first. If snow, ice, extreme temperatures, or other conditions make travel or grooming unsafe, we’ll contact you and find another time that works.

02 · Estimates & coats

Pricing and coat care

Every coat tells a different story. We use photos and honest conversation to plan the right service.

Why does mobile grooming cost more than a traditional salon?

Mobile grooming brings the full grooming experience right to your doorstep, so you do not have to leave home or make an extra trip with your pup. The price includes that added convenience, along with the travel and everything needed to provide complete care in our fully equipped van.

How accurate will my grooming estimate be?

Most of the time, the estimate we provide after reviewing a clear, recent photo is the price you can expect. When the photo accurately reflects your pup’s current size, coat, and condition, adjustments are uncommon. If their needs are meaningfully different from what we could see or discuss beforehand, the final price may reflect the additional work required.

Can you follow a specific haircut or style?

Absolutely. Reference photos are welcome and help us understand what you love. We’ll pair your preferred look with what works best for your dog’s coat, comfort, and at-home maintenance routine.

What happens if my dog is matted?

We’ll preserve as much coat as we safely can. When matting cannot be comfortably brushed out, a shorter haircut may be the most humane option. Your pup’s well-being will always matter more than maintaining a particular length.

03 · In the van

Your pup’s experience

Quiet surroundings, patient handling, and one groomer focused entirely on your dog.

How do you care for nervous, senior, or first-time dogs?

We meet each dog where they are. Seniors receive supportive handling, while nervous and first-time pups benefit from a quiet space without cages, barking, or a busy waiting room. We work at a comfortable pace and may adjust individual steps when your dog needs a break.

My dog has snapped or bitten before. Can you still help?

At Benny’s Mobile Grooming Company, we maintain a strict policy against knowingly grooming truly aggressive dogs. This helps protect both our groomer and your dog.

That said, we also understand that not every dog who reacts during grooming is aggressive. Some dogs are fearful, overwhelmed, or unsure and may respond defensively in an unfamiliar situation. In many cases, those dogs benefit from a calmer, quieter, one-on-one environment.

We’re often happy to work with dogs who are anxious or inexperienced, provided it can be done safely and without pushing them beyond their limits.

What products do you use?

We use professional shampoos and conditioners, with hypoallergenic options available. If your pup has allergies or sensitivities, let us know in advance. We can adjust our products or use a veterinarian-approved shampoo that you provide.

What is it like inside the grooming van?

The Hanvey-built van is clean, climate-controlled, and fully equipped with comfortably heated fresh water and professional tools designed for mobile grooming. Your dog is the only client receiving our attention during their appointment. Take a peek inside.

How long will my dog’s appointment take?

Most visits take about 60–90 minutes, although appointments can range from 45 minutes to more than two hours depending on your dog, coat, service, and comfort needs. We focus on thoughtful care rather than rushing the clock.

04 · Heading home

After the appointment

Your freshly groomed pup comes right back to your door, along with anything helpful we noticed.

When will I see my pup again?

As soon as the service is complete, we’ll bring your clean, comfortable pup right back to your door.

How is payment handled?

Payment is due when the appointment is complete. We accept cash, check, Venmo, and bank cards. Bank-card transactions include a 3.8% processing fee; there is no added fee for the other listed payment methods.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most dogs do well when groomed every four to eight weeks, but the ideal timing depends on coat type, lifestyle, preferred style, and maintenance needs. We’ll recommend a rhythm that helps keep your pup comfortable and prevents matting.
